This is a unique opportunity to discuss important matters directly with the Ambassador.

Among other topics, there will be a discussion on the interests of Ukrainians regarding consular and other essential services.

Admission: $20 at the door or by donation for Ukrainians with a CUAET visa. This is a fundraising event in support of the Ukrainian Cultural Centre.

SEPT 20 – Internment camps are a sad part of Canadian history. During World War I thousands of Ukrainians were sent to internment camps across Canada, stripped of their rights and belongings and forced into labor.

The film “Run, Nawrocki Run” being screened at the Ukrainian Cultural Centre, tells the story of one of the filmmaker’s ancestors who was plucked from the street by police and arrested simply for being Ukrainian and thrown into the Banff internment camp.

Filmmaker Norman Nawrocki, whose mother was Ukrainian and father was Polish, will introduce the film and following the film will give a violin concert with his sister.

Tribute to Ukraine

ArtSpring Theatre – Saltspring Island

A celebration of heritage and homeland, the song, dance, and music of Ukraine is performed by eminent national and internationally-recognized artists.
Soloists of the bandura, a traditional instrument of Ukraine, along with violin, piano, and opera bring classical and folk music to the stage, along with Victoria’s choir and national dancers.

The concert is a benefit for the purchase of medical supplies.
