And on the library’s Facebook page, you can test your knowledge about the lives and works of prominent Ukrainian figures and win a prize by participating in quizzes.

Welcome to Ukrainian Library in Victoria! Readers can find various books in Ukrainian and in English on our shelves.

There is a great collection of Ukrainian classic literature, contemporary literature, books about Ukrainian art, customs, cuisine, history, embroidery, theater, biographies and children’s books here.

Moreover, you can find here books that were forbidden in Ukraine and were published abroad. They include ‘Deposits of Gold’ and ‘Take the floor, Stalin’ by Volodymyr Vynnychenko. Its two of four novels that were not published during his life. And, for example, a copy of Oles Berdnyk’s fairy-tale fantasy novel Okotsvit is a reprint. The originals were burned in the publishing house. The author managed to send the signal copy to Canada.

There are also books of Ukrainian immigrant writers in our library including Ulas Samchuk, Dokia Gumenna, Stephanie Paush, Ivan Bahryanyi, Vasyl Barka and other.

Special section is devoted to first Ukrainian settlers and history of Ukrainian immigration to Canada.

Every month our readers meet to discuss books during our book club meeting. Besides that, contemporary literature lovers can join our online meetings with modern Ukrainian writers.

In the Summer, children read their favorite books and get prizes in library summer reading club.

Every alternative Saturday parents with children age 4-5 y.o. are invited to join us for Ukrainian Storytime. Its learning class with songs, rhymes, finger plays, quizzes and crafts.
