Job Description:

The Ukrainian Cultural Centre is seeking an experienced and skilled Cook for our community. In this role, the cook must have a competent knowledge of Ukrainian cuisine, including but not limited to making soups, cooking meats, cooking vegetables, pastas, cold salads etc. We will be happy to welcome a right candidate to our collaborative team, provide support and training as required. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage food preparations as per monthly schedule and ensure food safety & quality when preparing, cooking, selling, serving, and storing foods. 
  • Possess working knowledge of government rules and regulations for commercial kitchen operation and ensure compliance and overall safety of operations.  
  • Support coordination and timely preparations for the UCC events, suppers, catering that involve kitchen use and serving food. 
  • Coordinate work of the kitchen staff and volunteers. Maintain schedules and calendars. 
  • Ensure the kitchen cleanliness at all times. 
  • Ensure timely orders and sufficient stock of groceries and frozen food for daily operations. 
  • Perform other cook duties as assigned and assist with other tasks as needed. 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience of commercial cooking and serving food, including working knowledge of Ukrainian cuisine  
  • Ability to communicate in English and/or Ukrainian languages.  
  • Knowledge of commercial food preparation, safety standards and regulatory requirements. 
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to work in a high-paced commercial kitchen environment  
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to write reports, make online orders. 
  • Valid Food Safe certificate.  
  • Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 lb and to work for extended periods of time.  
  • Valid Full driver’s license and a vehicle are not mandatory but would be an asset.
